David Irving invites...
Returning your kindness...

David Irving writing at Key WestI HAVE been invited to so many of your towns and homes in past years that I want to return the gesture at least this year while in the USA: on Sunday, August 15 I shall hold an all-day "At Home", down here in historic Key West, Florida, a couple of hundred yards from the southernmost point of the USA. You can arrive and leave when you want.

Call it a pool party if you will - there is a pool, and it will be hot and humid here. Maybe I will even gather enough friends around for a talk later in the afternoon. There will be drinks, food, and a barbecue. Not everybody will be able to make it - the USA is a big country; two inches on the map takes three days to drive, I know that.

But it will make a pleasant weekend out for my friends. In southern Florida alone I have 300 supporters, and if anybody else wants to fly down to Miami (airport code: MIA) and drive - 3 hours - down the Overseas Highway of 49 islands and 48 bridges (the longest bridge is seven miles long) or fly straight into Key West's little International airport (EYW) then now is the time to book.

Tip: Look for the statue of Juan Trippe, founder of PanAm (remember?) just outside the baggage area; PanAm's first flight was from Key West to Cuba.

Accommodation is cheap at this time of the year if you want to stay over*: because nobody in their right mind comes to Key West in August, but then which of my friends is in their right mind? There is no charge, but you must register with me first, and - sorry! - this event is only for those friends who are already on my mail list.

IT IS my way of saying Thank-you.

* If you want something nicer than the average motel, speak with agent Roger Holtkamp of Accommodation of the Florida Keys at rogerhkw@bellsouth.net or (305) 797 3144. There are non-stop flights to Key West from Atlanta, Tampa, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami.
